Meet The Rev. Shawn Evelyn
Associate for Parish Life at St. John’s
My name is Shawn Evelyn, Associate for Parish Life at St. John’s, and I am excited to be able to work with our youth. We have a wonderful youth group that gathers for fun and formation, learning how they relate to our modern world. Our youth become involved in the life of the parish and the wider community through group outings, service opportunities, and by participating in our liturgy as acolytes. It’s a joy to facilitate opportunities where our youth can explore topics and concepts related to being a Christian in a comfortable environment with their peers.
Formation Hour
On Sundays, St. John’s children and youth meet for a Formation Hour that takes place from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM. This runs concurrently with the Speaker Series so that there is an event for every age. Children ages three through grade five meet for regular church school classes during this time. Middle and high school youth gather in the Youth Room to pray, learn, and grow in faith together.
Youth Group (Grades 6–12)
Middle and high school youth gather weekly in the Youth Room on the second floor of the Parish House for an exploration of life and faith with their peers. Rev. Shawn and other adult leaders support their formation through prayer, conversation, and fellowship.
